Qualification:   Master's degree in Genetic Counseling or Related field

Duties and Responsibilities :
Provides pretest or post test genetic counseling. Assesses family history, and counsels patients and/or families in cases of genetic disorders or birth defects; assists families in understanding the diagnosis, probable course of the disorder, and available management strategies.
Evaluates patient information and history and determines appropriate course for genetic testing, ensures that patients and/or families understand implications, risks, and benefits of testing.
Comfortable and knowledgeable in personalized genomic testing. 
Performs the administrative and day-to-day operational activities to include patient charting and records
Queries clinical inquiry group to be addressed with high priority
Develops and presents educational and related documents/talks for medical practitioners, patient care staff, and students
Conducting CMEs to educate the medical personnel, physicians and staff on the advancement in clinical genetics.
Provide scientific training to the field force as and when required.
Respond to the queries of field force/ Doctors/ Hospitals regarding the tests and any other query regarding genetic testing.
Weekly Genetic Counseling case reviews with a team focusing on challenging/unique/successful cases. (For learning, problem solving, acknowledging good work, and establishing and maintaining GC standards)
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Certification/Licensure :
 Board Certification as a Genetic Counselor.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required :
· Language proficiency in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu or Malayalam preferred

· Ability to effectively communicate medical information, test results, diagnoses and/or proposed treatment in a manner easily understood by the client.

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.

·  Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

· Knowledge of clinical operations and procedures.

· Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.

· Knowledge of human genetic disorders within an area of professional specialty.

· Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.

· Ability to apply mental health counseling methods and techniques.
